Paralympic Visit & Welfare Leaders Training

As part of our Positive Playtimes initiative we were delighted to welcome Andy Lewis, MBE to the Academy this week. Andy (who lives locally in The Forest of Dean) is a Paralympic who won Gold in Rio in 2016. The children in Heron class had the opportunity to work with Andy and Mrs. Evans to undertake Well Being Leader Training. It was a fantastic day and our MDSAs were also involved. This will contribute to the work that has already been undertaken to improve lunchtimes with zoning.

The end of the day culminated in an assembly for Y1-Y6 pupils where Andy shared with them his amazing journey to achieving his gold medal in triathlon. The children found this visit inspirational and during the Assembly the leaders were awarded their certificates. You can watch Andy’s story on You Tube at:
