A minute of silence 11 am

Following the tragic events of Friday in Paris, we will be holding a minute's silence at the end of a special assembly today.

In times of confusion and pain; good can still appear. Local people opening up their homes to welcome people who were scared or injured; stories about the emergency services who, as always, risked their lives to help and rescue people. In bad times it is always helpful to look at the good.

Remember that most people want to live in peace in the world. Sometimes we can feel that we can do little to help create world peace. However, whenever we seek to understand other people and seek to live in peace with those around us, we are helping to bring peace to the world.

If we allow terrorists to make us so frightened that we stop doing things or visiting places, then they have won the battle.

We need to live our lives to the full, seeing everyday as a wonderful adventure.

Prayer
Dear Lord,
We pray for all those who have been hurt and killed in Paris and in other parts of the world.
We pray for those who have lost loved ones and who are frightened about the future.
We pray that people everywhere will learn to give up war and terrorism and seek to live in peace.
Amen.
