After School Clubs Starting w/c 1st October 2018

posted 21 Sep 2018, 09:41 by Karen Maggs   [ updated 24 Sep 2018, 03:06 ]

The staff at Offa’s Mead Academy will be running a variety of after school clubs this term. Due to the space in some rooms and the activities on offer, places may be limited for certain clubs so are allocated on a first come first served basis. All clubs will run from 3:15 – 4:15pm with the exception of cooking club.  Please can parents collect their children after the clubs from the playground.

Choir Club (Lunchtime) – This club is available to all pupils with no limit on numbers.  We are aiming to take 30 KS2 pupils to participate in the Young Voices event in Birmingham in January, however all pupils are invited to join this club as there are multiple opportunities to sing in the choir and perform at events across the academic year.

Football Club – this club is available to pupils from Years 4 – 6.  Mr Freeman will run this club.  There are 16 spaces available.  Children will be required to wear suitable clothing and footwear.  Boots are allowed but no metal studs.  This is an all-weather club to take place on the field so pupils need to dress accordingly and bring a water bottle.

Art Club – This club is available to pupils from Years 1 - 2.  Mrs Hunt will run this club. There are 10 spaces available.

Cooking Club – This is available to Years 3 - 6.  Miss Davies and Mrs Hitchcock will run this club which will finish at the slightly later time 4:45pm. There are 10 spaces available for this club which will have a weekly cost of £2 to cover the cost of ingredients.

Street Dance – This club is for Years 1 - 6.  Mrs Thomas will run this club and we are aiming to enter a dance in the Great Big Dance Off competition in January.  Children must be wearing trainers, have suitable clothing (no jeans or shorts) and will need a water bottle.  There are 20 spaces available for this club.

Computing and Engineering Club – This club is for Year 2 - 6.  Mrs Evans will run this club in the Heron classroom after school and there are 16 spaces available.

Gymnastics – This club is for Years 1 and 2 and will be run by Miss Harris. There are 16 spaces available and suitable clothing will need to be worn. A PE kit will be perfect along with a water bottle.

KS1 Fun Day Friday 20th July

posted 19 Jul 2018, 06:01 by Karen Maggs

We have arranged a wet and wild day of fun on the field for all of our infant pupils.

We would like the children to come to school in their own clothes and if the weather is warm enough, we plan to fill up some paddling pools and give the children access to water buckets so they are able to have a splash about!

If they plan on splashing about, they will need:

  • a hat
  • sun cream
  • possibly a t-shirt they can get wet - for sun protection if it is really hot
  • swimming costume or trunks
  • a towel
  • a change of clothes for later on

We will be having fish and chips on the field at lunchtime under the green marquees. There is no additional cost for this – just order a red dinner.

Throughout the day, teachers will be doing some face painting and glitter tattoos for the children, so we have sent home a permission slip that you must complete if you would like your children to have a tattoo done or their face painted.

Lastly, we have organised a little surprise for all the children on the field at 2pm to finish the day off.

In order for us to deliver this fun filled day, we are asking for a small contribution from parents of £4, if any parents also have a paddling pool that they could lend us (and help inflate!!!) we would be very grateful. Please send your slips back to school ASAP so that we are able to cater for numbers and can get planning!
